Build your VM Lab
To start, you are going to build a lab environment where you can practice what you learn.
you will start with a cross-platform virtualization application so you can install on it a few virtual machines to run on our PC/Laptop/MAC.
I recommend using Oracle virtual box which is available for download on their website at: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
After downloading and installing the VM environment, go ahead and download the VirtualBox Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack
The next stage will be downgliding and installing the virtual machines you going to work with:
Kali Linux - attacker machine - Linux OS (In these guides I'm using Kali 2020.3)
Metasploitable - Victim machine + Website - Linux OS
Windows 10 - Victim machine - Windows OS
XSS and MySql file - Victim machine - Linux OS
Now that you have our VM lab run and ready, although it is not mandatory, I recommend creating a virtual network for your lab. the environment lab is designed to be more vulnerable and by doing so, you separate and protect your home network. Here is your chance to test and practice your skills researching how to do so.
Now you can dive in.
